I am personal stoked and hope that if any of you have friends, then you will ask them to listen or join in our dialogue with the youth.Thank you Prof. Liling Briones, our fairy godmother/guru for making this possible.

    Dear Young Turks,

Sorry, sorry, only read the announcement on the Young Turks’ visit to Silliman just tonight. Was in Bangkok for a U.N. meeting. The university community is excited about the forthcoming event which is organized by the Student Government and the College of Arts and Sciences Student Council, with the support of the College of Arts and Sciences.

The students want to think “out of the box” in the conduct of university fora. They are thinking in terms of a “talk show” format to encourage more audience participation. This is a good time for the young to take a break from books, formal lectures, and classrooms and take a look at New Politics and how it answers the concerns of the young. Of course, the Jurassians are just as interested! It is time to consider alternatives to traditional politics.

You can be sure there will be multimedia coverage from the university TV channel and ABS-CBN Dumaguete as well as local newspapers and radio.

Silliman is proud to be the first stop in your university tour. We hope the show will reexamine the old tired issues of governance, elections and corruption and offer new and innovative responses which will excite the youth and give hope to the jaded and cynical.

    Welcome to Silliman, Young Turks!

    Prof. Liling
